Manawhenua ki Mōhua

WHO THEY ARE

INTERPRETATION PANELS

Manawhenua Ki Mohua is an iwi mandated organisation representing Ngati Tama, Ngati Rārua and Te Ātiawa within the area defined as the Golden Bay catchment and Kahurangi National Park area.

Life cannot survive without wai (water). For Manawhenua Ki Mōhua, water is the source of all life and the waterways carry the lifeblood of the land.

We were tasked with creating seven storytelling panels that represent this idea. These are to be printed at A0 for on site use at Waikoropupu springs and also in meetings or conferences.

The idea was to convey complex cultural and scientific ideas in a approachable way that collectively showed our connection to wai and it’s importance to the surrounding area.

All posters needed to feel connected to one another and take the viewer on a journey through the landscape - a summary of the amazing and intricate systems of life and stories that rely on water to survive.
