Counterfutures
ISSUE 17
Counterfutures is a New Zealand–based left-wing journal of critical political thought and social analysis. Published biannually, it brings together essays, interviews and commentary from progressive voices on issues like social justice, labour, decolonisation, and environmental change. The journal connects scholarly ideas with grassroots movements to explore alternatives to mainstream political and economic narratives.
WHO THEY ARE
We worked closely with COUNTERFUTURES to design Issue 17 (2025), handling the overall look and feel of the magazine. This included art direction, typography, and full layout design across essays, interviews, and reviews. Our focus was on making long-form content easy and engaging to read, while still reflecting the journal’s bold, critical voice and political edge.
